Sleek and Sensational

Utility and sophistication combine seamlessly in this modernist interpretation. The client desired an open space to maximize amazing Round Lake Harbor views. The result is an expansive, functional space in tones both cool and warm. Tall white cabinets, range hood, and refrigerator front piece, unadorned but simple, face the generously-sized granite waterfall island. A raised, raised quarter-sawn oak wood top, resting on gently curved oak legs, offers visual interest and a generous space for seating.

Anchoring the opposite side of the space is a magnificent wire-brush oak wall of built-in cabinetry with ample drawer storage, illuminated display area lined in antique mirror tile, and shelving tucked behind tall glass doors lined with antique brass mesh.

Out of site, separate storage and task areas increase the functionality. One is a hard-working butler’s pantry with matching white cabinetry and quartz countertop and backsplash.

Generous recessed lighting throughout illuminates the space but does not detract from the lighting centerpiece: a multi-globe pendant light of clear glass and brushed nickel.

kitchen design dreams and goals…

"To create a space that was colorful, warm, and looked like it had always been part of our vacation home."

- Kathleen & Larry Acker

"The design keeps the non-participants out of the way of the cook. And even more important, the cook (usually me) gets the vantage point of seeing all the lake activity, living room, family room, patio and porch areas, and front entry. How good is that?"

- Linda Johnson

"We wanted a small, cozy, but very functional kitchen for preparing dinner for two, or twenty, or more."

- Susie Simon

"We wanted contemporary beauty with functionality."

- Carol & Jim Stroud
